South of England and Cotswalds
We'll be crossing the channel from Calais, renting a car, and touring through the southeast, the south, (not Cornwall, though) and the Cotswalds. I'll be happy for any suggestions of must-sees,favorite villages, B and B's, and favorite pubs, of course! Our trip is scheduled for July 2009, but I want to start planning now.

Perhaps, if you let us know how much time you have and what you love to do we can narrow down our suggestions.

As a start, here is a link to my trip report from Kent & Sussex:;tid=34943207

Also, a recent threat about travelling in the same area you are interested in.;tid=35148946

Have a read through and let us know what tickles your fancy, or what things you simply aren't interested in.

as rickmav says - before we can help you much at all, we really need to know how much time you plan in England.

From Dover and the SE, along the south coast and up into the Cotswolds (note the spelling) covers a lot of territory.

Hi MaryAnn111,
Read through my trip report from our 2 weeks in England this past May 2008 and see if any of the gorgeous little English villages we discovered may be of interest to you.

MaryAnn, My family rented a car in London and headed east to Kent. We stopped at Hever Castle (Anne Boleyn's childhood home) and then stayed overnight at a Hilton in Maidstone. Up early and off to Leeds Castle (Maidstone). Back in the car for a drive to the Southwest. Stop in Salisbury for lunch, Stonehenge and then onto Bath (arrived at night) Stayed in Bath B & B for 2 nights. Great one called One Three Nine - I highly recommend. Then off driving to the Cotswolds - drove through Moreton, Bourton, Upper and Lower Slaughter, Broadway, Castle Combe, etc. Beautiful. Stayed in Broadway and can't recommend our overpriced hotel there. Left for Blenheim and Woodstock and back to London for flight. Hope this gives you some ideas.

I can highly recommend The Olive Branch B&B in Broadway.
Several rooms to choose from, great breakfast, and great hosts who will offer lots of suggestions for the area.
