South African Pub in central London?
 

Anyone know of a good South African pub in central London? Meeting a friend and we want to catch up over a chilled Savannah Dry :)

Looked up Bok Bar- but it's pretty posh. Just a simple local pub serving African beers would be nice.

If you are already in London, or will be there soon, pick up a copy of the free SA Times - usually in display bins next to the TNT and other expatriate newspapers.

This always shows adverts for various SA bars and clubs.

I found these in only a few minutes with a Google search, but can't vouch for them personally.

Although the pub "the Springbok" is on South Africa road, I do not remember it being a "South African pub". I have drunk there once on a trip to Loftus Road, but don't remember much about it.

sprigbok is a chain of southa africian themed pubs, we did have one in Cardiff. It was along the same lines of the Walkabout pubs. Very in to sports, with large screens etc. I often went after work. It use to get packed out ed when big rugby games were on, went in once when there was abig game on and it was too much for me.

My son & his friends tend to hang out at The Slug 'n Lettuce with the rest of their buddies who are either working there of just visiting.
Don't ask me where it is (although I've been there!)

It seems that every Sith Effrikan in the world lives where I do - Southfields which is now known as saffafields.

In the centre of town I don't know any specific SA places, but you'll always find loads of people with vowel problems in the Walkabouts - the biggest is in Shepherds Bush, the most central in Temple or Charing Cross (it's a converted chapel near Cambridge circus). These places are rammed with Sith Effrikans, kangaroo botherers and Kiwis. And there's never a hand grenade around when you really need one is there?

If you look outside most tube stations you will see A free paper for south Africans. That will have more details.

When I lived in the London the young South African scene seemed to be contrated on pubs round Paddington station - can't remember the name of the street, but coming out of the main station entrance, you'd turn right(west) then left into the road heading south. Maybe someone who still lives there knows what that street is ? It's definitely not posh :-)
