Has anyone stayed in Sous Les Figuiers in St Remy?

Milly, I don't know this place but i checked out their site. What a great place for someone to stay, who wants to sharpen their faux marble, and other painting techniques.

Yes, I think the web site makes this place look very nice. We most likely will not do any art work, though. I think that someday I would like to return to a lot of places and stay put and take classes in cooking and painting - Tuscany, for one. Right now we are more into the touring mode rather than the stay put mode. I am still hoping someone out there has actually stayed at this place.

This may be too late to be of any help, but my wife and I stayed at Hotel Sous les Figuiers on our honeymoon this year. We stayed for a little over a week, and can recommend the hotel heartily. The website gives an accurate picture of the hotel, which is really beautiful. The larger rooms are located at the rear of the property and are set off in small courtyards separated by hedges; there are some smaller rooms at the front which do not have courtyards, but you should be sure to get one of the larger ones. These rooms have tables and lounging chairs in the courtyard, which we used for afternoon snacks and relaxding after dinner. There are an abundance of fig trees which line the walkways (which are lit by lamps and candles after dark); you can pull figs off the trees and eat them for a free snack. The room was fairly large and stylish, if not particularly fancy; the bathroom was especially large and well-furnished. As for location, the hotel is about a block away from the main street that circles the old part of the city - you can easily walk anywhere you need to go in St. Remy. There is parking at the hotel, should you need to travel outside the town (or need to get to the town...). We used St. Remy primarily as a departure point for day or afternoon trips to other cities and small townsin the area: Avignon, les Baux, Bonnieux, Gordes, etc. The two proprietors live on the premises, and speak good English (one lived in the United States for some time). They did everything they could to ensure that our stay was wonderful. You should be sure to book in advance, as the coverage in some travel magazines has resulted in lots of visitors - the hotel was full for all the nights we stayed there (twelve rooms, I think).

My wife and I go to St. Remy each year. We stay in a hotel run of old friends.

We do know Denise Kuppers who runs Sous Les Figuiers. We have bought several of her water colors. Her hotel is charming and attractive. It is very convenient to roads, restaurants, activities.
