I just saw a couple waving at the camera at 9 p.m., Italy. They made a 3-4 minute cell phone call, which had obviously been previously arranged. They stood in the light of Gabriella's near the manhole cover. The tobacco shop guy noticed them waving. They stopped some men and asked about the manhole cover. What a great idea! Much easier than running outside after an email. Of course this would only work with friends and family, not the rest of us.

I think it is simply beside the original camera - pointing down the same lane.

I looked up the store name on the awning. You are correct - the store location is Via Tasso 21 and the original webcam is on the corner. Visited in May and stood on the manhole cover waving - have become somewhat of an addict! Thanks Auldyins.

Anyone else noticed the webcam lately? Registration to view is required and they have been forced to make the images unclear. You can read all about it if you register. Sad - no more phoning home from the drain and waving!

Thanks, kybourbon! I enjoyed reading through all these posts. I remember standing in front of the tabacchi shop on July 7, 2004 and calling my son and nephew and they were able to see us. It was fun!
