Sorrento to Siena - how to get there?

We are going from Sorrento to a farmhouse near Siena. How do we get there? We are happy with train or bus.

Hi Oz,

If you will be renting a car while staying near Siena, I suggest that you pick it up in Sorrento and drive.

Otherwise, Circumvesuviana train to Naples. Trenitalia to Siena.

Train schedules are at http://www.vesuviana.it/orari.htm

Thanks - you are a great help.

Sadly, I am too scared to drive in Italy! Someone suggested go to Salerno and then get a direct train to Siena.

Hi Oz,

>We are going from Sorrento to a farmhouse near Siena.<
> I am too scared to drive in Italy!<

This does not compute.
How will you get to/from your farmhouse?

>Someone suggested go to Salerno and then get a direct train to Siena. <

That's certainly the long way around,
although the ferry to Salerno is a scenic trip.

I am unaware of any direct trains between Sorrento or Salerno and Siena.

I suggest the Circumvesuviana commuter train to Naples and then the train to Siena.

Check the schedules at www.trenitalia.com

The Circumvesuviana to Naples and then Trenitalia to Siena is probably the easiest, but be aware that you will have to change trains at least once -- most probably in Chiusi -- between Naples and Siena. To avoid having to make two changes, make sure that your train from Naples does not require a change in Rome and that it makes a stop in Chiusi.

You can, as Ira has said, figure it all out on

I meant too scared to drive in ROME. Having lived and driven in Budapest and Mexico, amongst other places, I can drive anywhere - I just hate when I am not familiar with directions.
