Sorrento - parking?

Will be driving a rental car with wife and infant from Rome to Sorrento in April...Any suggestions on where to find free or inexpensive parking while in town in Sorrento?

Thanks Tuck! Any ideas on the parking rates or if there's free street parking allowed for tourists?

Sorry I don't.

Having crawled along while driving through town a number of times, I can't recall seeing parked cars on the narrow streets.

The car parks are usually full bumper to bumper but, if you are staying in a hotel, you may have parking as part of the package.

Last two times we had little difficulty finding parking in Sorrento. Try to park outside the centro area and walk a little. It should not be a problem. I recall a lot of on street free parking w/o any problems.

Thanks again, Tuck!

Auldyins - We are renting an apt which unfortunately does not come with a parking spot. If the car parks are full, hopefully we'll be able to find some kind of street parking as Greg suggested.

Greg - good suggestion. I don't mind parking further away (outside the centro area) and walking in...that's a good idea! Do you remember the names of the streets (or main attractions around the area) which you were able to find successful street parking outside of the centro area?

I don't know their rates, but here's another garage (and they even take reservations!).

We were going to use the Marina Piccola that Jean refers to for our overnight stay on the Isle of Capri and found the rate to be quite steep (don't remember the exact amount). We ended up having our agriturismo hostess transport us to the wharf and back and, after paying her generously, it was still cheaper than the Marina Piccola Garage.

Actually as it is April you're going parking may not be as much of a problem as you will miss the really busy tourist season. Sorry we can't help but do enjoy your trip.

Oh - remember to wave at the web cam every time you pass.

Don't recall seeing any street parking in the center on our visits (our hotel provided free parking - but it was limited and you had to reserve with them in advance).

The best parking is the one located near the train station "De Curtis" is the name and they have really cheap daily rates
