Sorrento hotel close to town

Hi,
Does anyone know of a very nice hotel within walking distance of town? How about the Bristol, Cesare Augusto, Europa Palace, Continental, or Michaelangelo - for example? I found a post on the web that gave a list of 4 star hotels, but it doesn't say anything about them.

I'd appreciate any info you might have.
THANK YOU

Elsa

The Europa Palace is about 3 blocks from the center of town, and is quite nice, with views of the bay. Don't know about the others.

We stayed at the Bellevue Syrene several years ago and liked it very much. Beautiful views of the bay and Versuvius, accommodating staff and very nice rooms. Easy stroll to the main square.

We were in Sorrent last april. We stayed at the Minerveta. It's about a 5 min walk into town and the room was large with a spectacular view.

Here's another vote for the Bellevue Syrene. Beautiful terrace overlooking the bay, breakfast room with same view, reasonable prices, walking distance to Piazza Tasso, the center of town, and a very short walk to the Capri ferry.

We stayed at the Pensione La Tonnarella last Sept. and loved it. Probably about a 10 minute walk into town. Almost every room has a terrace facing out into the Bay of Naples. Their web site is: http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/3194/. The large terrace in the foreground on the home page photo was ours!!

Paul, I cannot go through the website you mentioned. Is there any way I can access their site? How was the accomodation (clean, reasonable,etc.)?Thanks.

Paul Mar 13th, 2000 07:57 AM

Dahlia - very clean, very pleasant, almost every room had a terrace looking out onto the Bay of Naples. I was just able to get onto their web site. There are two prices: one for breakfast only, one for breakfast+dinner (half board). Also, they charge more for sea view than not. I think it was about $100 or so per day, with breakfast. They were very responsive when I faxed them.

I second Paul's opinion of Pension La Tonnarella. We had a room in the corner and when we opened the doors it was one of the most beautiful sights we had ever seen. It's a short walk to town. Enjoy!!

Does anybody have the tel./fax #'s for Bellevue Syrene in Sorrento? Thanks.

Maggie Mar 15th, 2000 05:08 PM

This is from a slightly old book (1995) but it lists the Bellevue Syrene's phone # as 081-878-1024 and fax as 081-878-3963. Hope it's still correct.
