Sorrento BnB
Hi,
I am finally thinking on booking Villa Monica bnb in sorrento, Tripadvisor shows it at the number 1 spot. We would be travelling from 10 to 13 december to sorrento. A couple on honeymoon. Please advise if its a good stay , given I would be travelling to capri(if possible) and AC for two days. Thanks |
Have you looked at Casa Astarita?
|
I had looked at it and just looked at it again, I am not very impressed with the views, otherwise everything looks fine, plus reviews talk about overbooking, plus noise could be a issue given it faces the streets.
I found other options like hotel Ulisse deluxe and Magi house more interesting, though again no view of bay/vesuvius |
others under consideration are hotel gardenia and villa elisa
|
At that time of year, I'd pick a place that is IN Sorrento and not 4 km. away from the historical center. The weather won't be warm and probably not sunny or even dry. The website mentions that the last 200 meters to the hotel are up a steep incline.
|
Yeah true, could be a issue ,magi house looks good to me now
|
I was referring to Villa Monica.
Both the Hotel Gardenia and the condo at Villa Elisa are in better locations. |
Oh, so glad to see you mentioned Villa Elisa, Jean and haha.
We are booked for four days there in June. We'v been writing to Antonio and he has been fantastic. knowing i am trying to learn italian, he writes detailed answers to my numerous requests in both English and Italian . That is tis the kind of personal consideration that makes you want to book a place (plus they get great reviews on TA!) After checking a bunch of places that fit budget, we narrowed e choices to ones IN Sorrento, to be within easy walking distance to transport for Capri and Amalfi Coast . Hahahoney, others I considered were Villa Adriana (one room has a lovely view) and Hotel El Nido, which has fantastic views , but is up on a hill. However, the hotel's shuttle bus runs frequent round-trips to/from the town center. The restaurant at the hotel is supposed to be fantastic, and we plan to eat there one night. Both these places are , like Villa Elisa, family-run and sent detailed, responsive, thoughtful, and patient replies. I think December is too cold to swim; o/w having a pool (which Villa Adriana has) might b a deciding factor. |
Oops, it's Hotel Il (not El) Nido
http://www.ilnido.it/ There are photos and info on the quick ride via shuttle bus into town. http://www.villaadrianasorrento.com/default_eng.htm The room wit the big terrace and view ar the Queen Terrace Rooms. However, the view is frin a "lower perspective" , being closer to the waterfront than the hotel above. there are no views per se at Villa Elisa, but it is roomy, has a lovely courtyard patio, and if you are feeling like cooking on your honeymoon (??) you can do it there. |
I would always stay in downtown Sorrento unless I had frequent shuttle service from my hotel.
|
Il nido would be closed during that time otherwise I had finalised on it.
Villa Monica said they will have a car to drop in the town and otherway round. TA reviews are good too. Villa elisa was on my list , but looks like no view at all as I mentioned earlier. Queen terrace rooms at villa adriana seems to be a little out of budget but still can be done. How about -Palazzo_Abagnale, they seem to be decently priced and located. Plus any reviews about Magi house, looks good on pics , plus location is good again. |
Villa adriana seems to fulfill both the things view and the location as suggested by Calinurse that queen room with terrace has a good view. Not sure available or not, but looks like a good bet.
Any other suggestions are still welcome. |
Be sure to ask them about view from the large terraces in the two Queen Terrace rooms--view of WHAT exactly? You want a view, but of nice scene!!!! Hills? Ocean? Maybe they have anotehr photo that shows what you will be seeing from each of those rooms?
There may also a nice view from patio around the pool. i love the view rooms too, but in this case, for Villa Elisa, i figured we could do the thrity second walk across the road to the Foreigners Club restaurant for the great view. |
villa elisa charges 30% upfront charges, so in case of cancellation we lose 30% of charges.
still confused |
