Sorrento and Amalfi in May 2014

We are going to Italy in May and will be staying in Sorrento or maybe Sant Agnello. I'd love some advice from fellow fodorites about these 2 towns and also about transportation. There will be 6 of us, 2 australians and 4 english, so we want a 3 bedroom and 2 bathroom self catering apartment somewhere central as we will not have cars.
1. Has anyone stayed at VRBO 859500 in Sant Agnello and would you reccommend it?
2. Any other recommendations for accommodation?
3. Is staying in the centre of Sorrento noisy?
4. How easy is it to get to places from Sant Agnello. We want to visit Pompei, Herculaneum, Capri, Positano, Ravello and Villa Cimbrone and Villa Ruffolo and will need to use public transport.
5. Will the water be warm enough to swim? Should we make sure there is air con in the apartment?

We got fantastic advice last year before our trip to Northern Italy, so thanks again to all those people who helped make our 2013 trip so memorable.

We have gone in late May and the hotel pool has been open and it was warm enough to use.

Not sure about the sea since we stayed in Sorrento and most of the beaches in the area really aren;t (small, pebbles or even rocks - nothing like a really nice pure white sand beach with pounding waves like we have in NY)

We stayed in Sorrento but the reviews of VRBO 859500 are very positive and indicate it is located just a short walk to Sorrento train station.
From the station you have access to Pompeii and Herculaneum and the bus to the Amalfi coast departs from the train station and the ferry to Capri from Sorrento harbour. Sorrento is ideally located for exploration of the sites. You can easily spend a couple of days just enjoying Sorrento as well.
If you have any interest in Greek temples ther is a tour from Sorrento that takes in Paestum. Imagine three Greek temples that are equal to the Parthenon just a couple of hours from Sorrento.
Here are our images of Sorrento and Compania from last May.

Have fun planning
