Sorrento / Amalfi cost inside informazione per favore!

Hi everyone,

I'm organising a family trip to Italia for a week this June for my mums 60th - we will be based at a villa in Torca, Sant Agata and will be hiring a car. I was in Sorrento 10 years ago as a a day trip from Rome whilst on a school trip and remember being astounded at the scenery - cant wait to get back and see it again! I would really appreciate if anyone can give me any recommendations to areas/towns/ places/ musesums/ churches that we must see or bars/restaurants that you can recommend for atmosphere/scenery etc. We have a rough itinery which includes the Amalfi coast drive, Pompeii & Vesuvious, Capri & Naples and Herculeum so I have all the well known attractions/towns covered - now just looking for special touches off the beaten path!

Grazie millie!

Hi

In Positano we had an awesome meal at Ristorante Da Costantino - http://www.dacostantino.it. I strongly suggest to prebook for a window seat. The view is breathtaking and lunch would be the best time if they're open. I grew up in an Italian kitchen so I thought I'd put the restaurant to the test and ordered the Gnocchi al Sugo. They were superb!

Hi ca,

You might wish to visit the Greek ruins at Paestum.

Enjoy your visit.

Thanks so much worldinbag & Ira, that's exactly the kinda inside info I was after I have filed them both!

I came across a seaside restaurant called La Conca del Sogno in Nerano which looks lovely and very cute. Has anyone been there?

Stay in Sorrento; go to Pompeii. But, leave your car in Sorrento and take the bus from Sorrento to Positano and Amalfi. Especially in June. The views are truly breathtaking and you don't want to drive over the edge while looking(tongue-in-cheek). The traffic during summer is formidable. One of my good friends and his wife drove a rental car along the Amalfi Coast and it was marriage threatening. We did the Amalfi coast from the Salerno end; but have been to Sorrento several times and is a great place to stay.

Good advice Kslanker thank you. Our villa is half way between Sorrento and Positano so I think we'll have to play it by ear with regard to ditching the car! If we do drive I'll have to make sure my boyfriend (the driver) will be on his best driving behaviour!
