What transport options are available for a day trip from Sorrento Positano & Amalfi in April? Can anyone suggest suitable web sites.

I believe there are passenger ferries!

Although there are several ferry and hydrofoil services available in the area, Metro del Mare may have the most complete listing of routes - see their website (in Italian only) at:
