sommerrodelbahn (luge, bobsled, toboggan, alpine coaster) near Salzburg?

Hi all -

I'm having a bit of trouble getting information about the various sommerrodelbahn options near Salzburg - it sounds like there are fun ones in Berchtesgaden, Fuschl, Strobl, Hallein, and elsewhere. The websites I've found are all in German and provide very little information. I want to know where they're located relative to Salzburg (where we'll be staying), and more importantly, how to get to them (preferably via public transportation). Any insights or helpful German speakers who can translate the websites for me?

Here are the websites I've found:
Fuschl and Strobl: http://www.rodelbahnen.at/
"salzburger land": http://www.kohlschnait.at/de/rodelbahn.html
Hallein (Durrnberg): http://www.duerrnberg.at/index.php?o...d=78&Itemid=77
Berchtesgaden: http://www.hochlenzer.de/anfahrt.html

Help, please!

Fuschl and Strobl are most probably your best options.

Both are close to Wolfgangsee and the highway passing closeby.
z
Bus# 150 from Salzburg passes by no changes needed. ask driver for best stop.

These open from May- October from 10 AM

Strobl better as it has 2 bahns of 1300 meter long

the others less convenient

one is only a winter rodel.

The one above Berchtesgaden requires taking a lift from near the town center - higher up to a Pension that operates the tobaggan - short course.

added things to do nearby

On the Duerrnberg website there is an option for English in the top right corner.

I use Google Chrome as my web browser and it automatically translates foreign websites into English. You might try that.

Thanks, molker, that's just what I needed! I already want to go to Sts. Gilgen/Wolfgang, see the lake and go up the Schafbergbahn, so maybe we can combine the Strobl luge with that.

Thanks so much for your help!

When we took the Sound of Music tour a few years back they stopped at a Sommerroddelbahn on the way to Mondsee.

FYI, we did the Strobl luge and it was a highlight of our trip! The views as you're tugged up the mountain are incredible, and the ride itself is a lot of fun too

We drove there, which we thought was much better than waiting in a lonely, forelorn bus stop on the side of a busy road. We passed it up the first time and had to stop and ask for directions when we got all the way into Strobl and knew we'd gone too far (we were coming from Salzburg).

Hi deladeb,

I put together a comparison on the various Rodelbahn around Salzburg. You can check it out at http://salzburg101.com/summer-toboggan/.

Cheers
