somewhere between Wicklow and Shannon

I'm looking for ideas for something to see somewhere between Wicklow and Shannon. This is my 6th trip so I've seen Kildare, Kilkenny,Caher, Cashel, Holy Cross in this middle-of-the-country area... I'm looking for a nice B&B in a town with some often overlooked sites. I'll be leaving Blessington May 26th enroute to spending my last day (May 28) in Bunratty. Any ideas???
kathy

Clonmacnoise and Lough Derg come to mind.

Kathy:

Took the words out of my mouth Clifton. Also Birr would be a possibility. If you were further south, towrds Tipperary, you could go through the Glen of Aherlow. This is a very pretty area..

Bill

I spent a few days last year exploring Birr/Portumna/Lough Derg. I'm thinking of Emo court and Abbeyleix (Heywood Gardens)thanks to a suggestion from Pat Preston's website. Where exactly is Glen of Aherlow? Sounds like a great way of getting from Abbeyleix to Bunratty...but I'm not sure exactly where this is?

County Tipperary, running south of Tipperary town. The start of the glen is off of N24 heading west, according to one of my old maps, just north west of Cahir. I can't seem to locate my more detailed map, or I'd give you a road number to turn on to.
