Something's wrong with postings

On several occasions, I have had a problem posting a response to topics on this board.

Sometimes, you can click on a topic that has five responses and see only three. Postings are not happening as they should. The topic just below this, "Places to live" has five responses, all of which are mine. When you select the topic, you see zero responses. The reason: all of my attempts failed. No information is attached, yet the topic assumes that there are responses present.

It would appear that there is a problem with the version of software currently being used as I've seen this on other forum's (US, Canada, etc.) and it happens to me with my home and work computer, so I don't believe that it's me.

If it happens to any of you, let it be known.

Yes, Lee, I too have noticed problems. I have posted replys which have upped the count but never made it into print (and I keep wondering what never-never land they're in...). Also annoying are topics where only the headline appears and no message, and then it seems that someone has hit the reply button over and over again (and according to what you are saying, even this isn't the case). I hope the Foders folks will read this and try to get these bugs out. I do like the new format though, a great imporvement over the former version.

I have had nothing but trouble with posting messages lately. I posted "October Itinerary" and it says there are 5 responses but there are only 3 posted. This seems to be a recent problem because up til the last week or so I have never had a problem with Fodors.
Hi Lee, Have had the same problem as you have. It's making me look like the village idiot. Sometimes it works well and other times it's awful. Could it depend on the amount of traffic?? Hope they'll sort it out.
Yes, I got sent into Never-Never Land on Friday, at the Caribbean site. Someone wanted to know where to go, now that their agent had to cancel their trip to the parts that were hit by the hurricane. I was number 3, but my reply was nowhere to be found.
Bob K.

I am experiencing the same problems.

Twice I have spent a bit of time composing on-line only to have my
posting head out to la-la land.
It is even more frustrating in that I can see that the number of responses has incremented and the time of the latest response is when I sent it in. For whomever is trying to fix this, the 15th response on
"the benefits of
European travel for
children"
got lost. My count on that posting is currently the original posting and 12 others. Other people must have had the same problem. Fodor's, please fix this or this forum will be dead within a month.

Testing a hypothesis. I have had three unsuccessful tries in a row. I have tried it with putting the name and email during the posting and now I am putting my name in without email. I properly choked to a page. Now lets see if it forgets me.

One thing I just noticed. On the 'benefit of travel with children' post, the link does not think I activated it. In other words, it did not change color as a previously chosen link should have. As a last note, Fodor's had better take this seriously, as something like this can be a killer to a forum.

Dear forums users,

We are indeed aware of the recent spate of technical problems. We're currently working on a solution, which we hope to be able to implement by the end of the week.

In the meantime, it would be very helpful if you let us know the name of posts that have an incorrect number of responses. Use the Technical Problems option off our Write to Us page (at www.fodors.com/write/, or access it from the homepage) to get in touch.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Staff
Fodor's Travel Online
So that's what happened to my funny story about Arya the pizza dude in Copenhagen under the "memorable meals" posting. Too tired to rewrite it. But seriously, Fodors, some of these folks trying to help out us novice travellers have been known to post very long and detailed notes with very specific advice on places to eat and stay, with addresses, websites, and lots of other detailed info and it must be frustrating to type all that out for someone and then have it disappear. Our favorite expert travel advisors are likely to disappear from the forum if this goes on.
