Somerset B&B Malahide, Ireland
 

I am considering staying here for our last two nights in Ireland before flying out of Dublin. Anyone have any experience with it? While sone have recommended Evergreens it just does not look like my cup-of-tea.

I could find no listing for Somerset B&B in Malahide. Do you mean Somerton? What kind of cup-of-tea are you looking for?

Yes I do mean Somerton. I am looking for a place that is clean, comfortable and charming.

Do you have links for either one...Can't find.

Does the somerton look nicer in Pictures or is it a better location? (P.S. I live in Dublin)

to me the Somerset looks more interesting. I do not know if the location is better except that it is in the village where the Evergreen is outside. (I like in-town living.) And I can not find any photos. I think you recommended Malahides to me initially as a nice town with easy airport access.

In town would be nice and easier if you want to walk to a restaurant and have adrink in the poub your last night so I can understand that. Some places are deceiving and make like the are in a village and are a long ways out and its a pet peeve of mine. Try trip advisor and to be honest there are thousands of B&B's so maybe no one on the board has stayed in this particular one. I go for the cloer to towm one!

Thanks Siobhan. According to the address and a map it is definitely in town. I think I will give it a go. Do you ir did you own a travel company featuring special trips to Ireland? I once met someone with your name who did. I remember the meeting because it was on September 10 2001.

No but I often thought of Organising them. My mother was supposed to come with a large group of friends and I was going to do the tour for them and rent the bus etc but it never happened they all slowly made their excuses once the reality set in. It's a shame because my mother is always seen as American and while she is proud of this she wants to show her friends where she really lived and came from as many people do not think she is from Ireland because of her accent (Now american after 50 years).

BUT another place to consider in the same area is Belcamp Hutchinson...beautiful property...close to airport. Lovely hosts....in fact she fix us breakfast at 4:45am so we wouldn't go to the airport hungry. (Who's hungry before daybreak??)

I highly recommend Beechwood. I stayed there in the spring. It is a fantastic B&B and actually the best one I have stayed at in Malahide: http://www.beechwood.ie/index.html

I also would recommend Belcamp Hutchinson in Malahide.. we stayed there in June and it was by far the best.. gracious hostess who offered assistance, bus schedules, nightcaps by the fireplace, beautiful rooms and property..
