Someone Please Tell Me to Stop Posting Compulsively and Go Back To Work

Can't stop reading, posting, and re-reading. Losing both strength and perspective. intervention needed. please.

DejaVu Feb 21st, 2006 11:38 AM

Only if someone can make me stop eating Thin Mints. ;-)

FainaAgain Feb 21st, 2006 11:40 AM

Fishee, what do you do on vacations? Dream of Fodor's? ;)

Stop Posting Compulsively and Go Back To Work

laclaire Feb 21st, 2006 11:42 AM

Read this in a loud, militarily authoritative tone:

Stop posting and re-reading posts! You need to get to work! You have no business here!

And you over there, get that damn thin mint out of your mouth before I come over there and slap it out.

fishee Feb 21st, 2006 11:43 AM

O.K. -- no need to actually respond to Deja Vu's witty post yet here I am typing away, seconds after its appearance.

"Yes, I've had a thin mint before, and it really worked out for me" or

"I know someone who had a thin-mint while riding the subway and wished she had eaten something else" or

"always use a Capital one credit card to purchase your thin mints but be sure to call first to ensure 0% transaction fees".

I just can't stop.

LOLOLOL laclaire!

CotswoldScouser Feb 21st, 2006 11:43 AM

Stop posting compulsively,

Start posting wittily, provocatively, informatively, cussedly or sensationally. You'll feel a great deal better.

jill_h Feb 21st, 2006 12:48 PM

why?

Underhill Feb 21st, 2006 12:56 PM

Maybe you need a more interesting job? Possibly one in the travel business...

garyincary Feb 21st, 2006 12:59 PM

Fishee,

If this is the worse vice you have, embrace it, covet it, and enjoy it. Rid yourself of the guilt. Strength is overrated, perspective makes one too serious!! Life is way too important to be taken seriously (thin mints are best eaten when frozen).

Robespierre Feb 21st, 2006 01:16 PM

Juste une of the teeniest thin waffeur...

FainaAgain Feb 21st, 2006 02:11 PM

Oh, fishee, your "work" is suffering?Don't you know if you feel bad, there is always somebody who feels worse? Take me, for example, I have so many unanswered e-mails, and instead I'm posting here!

Syl Feb 21st, 2006 02:52 PM

I don't know about you're work environment, but in mine, Big Brother computer techy is able to spy on our computers from the comfort of his office & we never know when he's watching.

Dejais Feb 21st, 2006 03:01 PM

Internet connection....$19.95 a month give or take

Box of Thin Mints....$ 3.50 every day or so

Valuable advice from new friends around the world who enjoy and share your travel interests....PRICELESS

Eat a thin mint and post on, my friend!

wanderlust5 Feb 21st, 2006 03:08 PM

I know, I have the same disease, fishee. We here in Fodorville, (a town much nicer than Pleasantville) really enjoy each other's stories, comments, advice, and compansionship. This is the place we all come when we want to consort with others just like us that have the urge, that travel bug, that unstoppable urge to go out and experience the world, learn about other cultures, customs, eating habits, and history. We all share a common bond here, and you are always welcome here. So don't quit reading and posting ever!

(PS. I am a terrible enabler. Post on, read on and never stop!)

suze Feb 21st, 2006 03:14 PM

i tell myself the boss has figured out a way to log internet usage and track the sites and amount of time we spend on them...

that scares me away for a few minutes at least!

LynnieD Feb 21st, 2006 03:15 PM

What? Are Girl Scout cookies available and if so how did I miss them?

Scarlett Feb 21st, 2006 03:23 PM

Robespierre LOL

fishee,
Sex..think about sex. I hear that works :D or Shopping..but then you will probably think about doing those nice little activities on a trip, so there you go~
I personally never think about either one but I hear others find it helpful..I prefer thin mints LOL

BettyBoop Feb 21st, 2006 05:22 PM

Thin mints, got my two cases, Yes I freeze some, maybe three boxes, they're great in the summer. That's right only three boxes, I tend to eat them by the sleeve. But it's for the kids.

And don't miss the Thin Mint ice cream, heaven.

Time for dessert.

DejaVu Feb 22nd, 2006 06:21 AM

Thin Mints are also good blended up with ice cream and creme de menthe for an adult milkshake. ;-)

Lynnie: Look outside your local supermarket next visit; the Girl Scouts will probably be there. They got me that way.

Tulips Feb 22nd, 2006 06:26 AM

I find the best way to stay away from Fodor's is to go on holiday! Don't take a laptop, and don't visit internet cafes.

laclaire Feb 24th, 2006 07:58 AM

Yesterday I had a day off and was at home trying to get a bunch done. . .and the internet connection went out. I was fodorless all day and really, it helped my constant need to see it. Not that I am cured, but I am more responsible about it.

fishee Feb 24th, 2006 08:08 AM

I don't even check my e-mail when I'm on vacation much less go on-line (and then I blame it on the infrastructure). This narrative doesn't fly so well if you're in London or Paris rather than Jamaica so I generally don't reveal my destination, I'm just "out of the country for a week"...
