Some trip ideas, please.
My wife and I will be visiting Naples at the end of September, 2008. After a few days in Naples we will have an additional 3 days to explore before we have to head back home. We were thinking of Sorrento, Capri, Anacapri, or Ischia. Since we can’t get enough of the Amilfe Coast, we figured if we stay at any these places we could hop a ferry and visit the other three. Any suggestions? Also, looking for suggestion for some “moderately” priced places to stay. I realize we will get hammered with our half price American dollars, but, you only live once.
Thanks |
Sorrento would i think be as moderately priced as any of those places and also is a great transit hub - Pompeii a few minutes away - Capri, Ischia short boat rides
and dramatic bus ride along Amalfi Coast starts here |
Have you determined that Naples will not be buried under garbage during your visit?

I thought Amalfi was a fabulous base.
I adored this little hotel in Amalfi: http://www.hotelfloridiana.it/ I was concerned about the garbage in Naples and very surprised to see very little. One overflowing bin on Piazza Bellini was only clue that there was any sort of crisis. |
I stayed at one-star on Capri - no luxuries, but clean and comfortable - Hotel Tosca - www.capri.com/en/c/la-tosca-2.
I was in Naples a little after ekscrunchy (mid May) and the garbage problem had gotten a little worse by then - but the end of September is a long way off, I wouldn't worry about it. Remember, Berlusconi promised to fix it, right? (lol) |
