Some Paris questions
 

This is our 2nd time in Paris, and this time, we are bringing our 9yr old son. I've got 2 questions:
1. Has ayone ever booked a tour with the francetourisme? If so, can I get some feedback? I want to book a side trip that expedia does not offer. Before I give out my credit card info, I'd like to verify if it is legit.
2. The first time we were in Paris, we had a great time. We however missed going to the Moulin rouge. I've read so many reviews that it is something not to miss in Paris. My friends say so too. My problem now, is my 9yr old. Moulin rouge allows children 6yrs and older. I want some insight, opinion as to inappropriateness of the show for my 9 yr old. If we have to see the show, we have to tag him along. I don't know of any child care services there for the evening, and if there is, I don't think my so will be comfortable in a foreign land with a strange babysitter.

It depends on how comfortable you are with nudity, I think.

Hi Suzy101. I wouldnt take anyone younger than 18 to the Moulin Rouge. It is an adult Cabaret type show. Lots of nudity and while very entertaining for adults not suitable IMO for a 9 year old. Most kids that age would find it boring and embarrassing. Also it took forever in a queue to get in and I couldnt help but wonder , in such a crowded venue, how everyone would get out if there was a fire in the building. Cant help you with tour company. My suggestion is to save your money. You certainly don't want to buy dinner there.

I have been to Paris many times, and don't feel my life is any the poorer for my not having visited the Moulin Rouge.

But I'm a traveller, not a tourist.

We went with friends to the Moulin Rouge and they brought their 10 yr old son and yes, he, and we, were uncomfortable when it first started. Later we were just bored. In my personal opinion it is not a good place to bring kids and the neighborhood gets really sleazy after dark I totally agre with the poster who mentioned the fire dnger.

If you want to expose your son to nudity,m take him to a French beach. Much more fun and a lot less money.

Not so easy in Paris!

Hi suzy101....I have taken three or four day tours with francetourisme over several years and been completely satisfied with the company. Their office is a block away from the apartment we rent and I've stopped in to speak with the staff a few times. They are always knowledgeable and helpful. The tours have always departed and returned on time and I think they are priced competitively.

We took our 17, 15, and 13 year olds to the Moulin Rouge. The 9 year old could go--BUT save your money. It just ain't that big a deal.

I took my 14 yr old to the Lido, surely similar to the Moulin Rouge, along with another mother and 14 yr old son. The kids were fairly bored and it was a long show that just wasn't worth the money or time spent. I've seen better in Vagas for far less money and without a kid in tow.
