I'd love it if you were to go on, La_Tour_de_Cause. It validates that although there are no guarantees when you "follow your nose", the experiences can be the most memorable. I LOVE to research and plan varied itineraries, but would feel cheated if a trip didn't include unplanned days and adventures!
