Some New French Films to look forward to.

The one with Michel Bouquet playing Mitterand in his last days., I forget thew title but it's...Champs de Mars.
Gerard Depardieu and Gerard Jugnot (the music teacher in Les Choristes) have a new film called "Boudou"
This is a remake of a wonderful oldfilm I saw years ago that was directed by Renoir and starred the great Michel Simon.
That was called "Boudou saved from drowning."
Another is a doctumentary about Penquins that looks fantastic.

CC--I put "La Grande Seduction" and "film" or "movie" in the search box, and got no results. I'm curious what was written--any other search suggestions?

The title of the film on Mitterrand is "Le Promeneur du Champs de Mars," with a great performance by Michel Bouquet! Alan Riding has written a very interesting article on this fascinating film, which breaks a French taboo in interpreting the life of a political leader in the cinema. The article is being published in the Thursday, March 3, edition of the International Herald Tribune, on line at iht.com.

Thanks for reminding those of us in the "provinces" that these films never play here and we must wait to see if they are released on DVD. I'd be thrilled if they just show "The Chorus" here.

Every year, there's a "Rendez-Vous" series at Walter Reade. I just blogged about it this morning as I just checked the schedule:

Not sure how many of these will have a wide release. As usual what I want to see are sold out.

I saw "Seducing Dr. Louis" last year in NYC. Interesting movie.

Patrick and all:

If you feel the need to catch up, the Forum des Images, in the underground shopping center at Les Halles, advertises some 6,000 films with a Paris theme! If the set-up remains as it was some time ago, you choose your film(s) and then watch on an in-console small screen. You can Google their Web site.
