Some happy news

Hello all it has been awhile and hope you are well and happy. In this crazy world it is good to have some happy news and here is mine.
In 2013 we were to embark on a Blue Danube River Boat Cruise. It ended up being an uncomfortable bus tour for eight days due to the floods. At the time we were given a 40% refund and a letter advising of a 50% reduction on a future cruise during our lifetime.

Of course over twelve years the letter has been misplaced. Last week I discovered an email mentioning the 50% discount and thought I would push my luck give the company a ring.

They responded within 24 hours that they would honour the agreement provided we embarked on a cruise before 2025. The companiy has a policy now that vouchers are only valid for two years, and if the cruise changes to a bus so be it. The wonderful person who I dealt with asked me if I would like to take the time to think about these conditions. I thought about it for a second🤣

We managed to get a good price for airfares in October, and on the same day that I was notified from the company we booked airfares, paid cruise deposit, ,and a one month itinerary planned.

After thinking I won’t ever get to Europe again ( I detest the flight) here we are going to Italy, and France before the cruise begins in Basel, and then Amsterdam.

To say I’m excited is an understatement, and I am pleasantly shocked and surprised that the company honoured this agreement and did so happily. I really expected them to say you have to be joking…..

Looking forward to spending a few days in Annecy and Mulhouse in October and the weather might not be great but I really don’t mind

cheska, happy news indeed, you’re lucky the company honored their commitment after so long!

River cruises are said to be fun, with interesting activities. Where un Italy and France are you going on the pre-cruise land tour? That should be exciting too, so a win-win situation all around. Hopefully the weather won’t be too iffy in October.

Do let us know how it goes, all the best!

What good news, nice to hear you are hitting the road (river) again! October is a pretty good time to travel - trees are thinking of autumn and the leaves turn brown. And you are just in time for the new wine. A glorious time indeed to be travelling!
