I stayed at the Blooms Hotel in Temple Bar. It was noisy at night but I expected that and didn't let it bother me. The room was comfortable and I would stay there again. I had an Irish breakfast in the hotel's breakfast room - the food was decent but not spectacular. Other restaurants I ate at were Trastavere, Botticelli, Il Baccaro (excellent), Cafe Gertrude and the Italian cafe next to Bar Italia on the northside. I specifically chose places that were popular but not frequented by large groups of people, since I was by myself. I also visited Oliver St. John Gogarty's, Isolde's and the Ha'penny Bridge Inn.

Trastevere I have not been to in aabout 2 years, Boticelli I am not crazy about but does in a pinch...Il Baccarro is a fab place and unfrtunately has been discovered by many. We used to book a meal once a moth for 15 people and spend the night ther. They now have "Seatings" at 7 and 9 and its not the same for us.
Cafe Gertrude is meant to be great and I must try it. The cafe next to Bar Italia has great pannini's and coffee glad you tied it.
The Ha Penny is a typical dingy pub but good. They have comedy nights upstairs once a week. Its supposed to be good.
I am glad you got out and about. Good for you!
