Sofitel St. James, anyone?
 

I'm considering staying at the Sofitel St. James because the location off Lower Regent Street looks great. Can anyone share their experience of staying there? It's a relatively new hotel and it's not been reviewed much on this site or elsewhere.

I did not stay there, but last time in London (seven months ago), I went in and spoke to a desk clerk who showed me around. Superb location---right on Pall Mall, a little frenetic during the day, but so truly centrally located that it can hardly be beat. You could walk to any museum, park, theatre easily. The rooms and public areas were beautifully done, not entirely my taste (I prefer more comepletely traditional), but well-appointed and stylish. As I am from California, this look is too familiar now, but the hotel's design scheme is sweeping Europe I have found. The staff was tremendously gracious, even for a site tour, and I left with a large and elaborate color brochure fold-out. I know that the Auto Club is offering this as a luxury property for some of their packages. I would not hesitate to stay there.

Thanks iangf; I appreciate your comments. British Airways is offering it in their hotel package scheme, and I was impressed with the photos I've seen online and the central location.

Stayed there on a Priceline rate of $160 nt back in May. We were given an large upgraded room facing Regent St. The hotel is has a contemporary design with fresh pink, white, & red roses/ There is a cool pitch black just to the right of the entrance. Although we didn't try it afternoon tea looks really good. Our room decor was modern black and hunter green. There were separate his and her closets along with his/her sinks. I would definitely stay there again, and the staff was incredibly nice and accomodating and gave us a personalized walk through of the hotel upon check in. There didn't seem to be too many other visitors at this hotel though. I wonder if it's because it's french owned.
