So you get possessive of the places you love in Europe and get envious when others visit "your place"?l
I just love certain towns and areas of Italy and France and find myself possessive of them even when I am not there. I get a jealous pang when I read here of someone visiting my beloved place. It is not that I want it only for myself, but, well, maybe it is.
Do any of you feel this way too?
way too scary.

I only get upset when someone has posts on this forum in MY spots. Number 2, and number 11, and number 41.

What you're talking about is just plain freaky.
I refer to Venice as "My Venice" so I understand completely.
Well I didn't think I was writing anything so scary. I guess "way" is projecting more into this....
Does anyone feel that when walking along a street at 7pm and you hear a moped go by while listening to a fruit vendor selling peaches to an old lady with a cane is the most wonderful thing on earth?

What is this obsession with coming up with the latest poll??

What is your favorite:
-Flip-flop store?
-Thai-Cambodian restaurant in Littletownweiss, Liechtenstein?
-European Tequila?
-Green luggage?
-Comfort snack food at 5pm?

Jeezz...
Oh, by the way, I get jealous when people talk about Paris... I discovered it! It is mine! My own! My precious....!
dear cb,
HUH ?
I agree! Too many polls on this board!
Possessive said town or area, not city. Besides, cb, what else is there to do on this site? What is your favorite is usually the opening topic. What would you rather write about? Weather? What is your favorite weather?
Lee,

Thanks for asking! Great question. I tend to prefer cool autumn days with a few clouds and a light breeze, you know, when you can do with a light jacket.

How about you?
Well, CB, now that you ask I prefer Spring. How many people do you think prefer Autumn to Spring?
I get very grumpy when I see people "enjoying" my weather. I want it all to myself. It's all about ME.

Now that I think about it, I don't want people enjoying my summer weather either. So stay away from my places in Italy and France and, well, you can go there in August, but that is it!
Well, I for one understands what Posessive means! I, too, feel like some places are "my" places, and when someone I know is visiting I feel a mixture of happiness that they'll get to see the place and envy that they're going.

I live in China, and when my mom came to visit me for the first time, as she was coming out of the arrivals hall, I noticed that I was anxious that she not "see China" behind me (out the windows) until I had a chance to SHOW it to her. I've had the same feeling when we have people come visit - I always want guests to come to Shanghai first, then go to Beijing later, so that WE can "show" them China. Because it's OURS!

(I hope everyone takes this in the tongue-in-cheek spirit it is intended - of course, I know these places aren't "mine".)
Thanks, Andrea. Yes, that is what I meant, nothing spooky or scarey. I just want other people to enjoy my special finds but I want to be there too.
When I send someone I know to one of my favorite places, I wish I were going along.
I mostly don't mention 'my' places, because I want them to remain as secret and genuine as possible.
I don't know if it is "possesive" but I do get envious pangs when I read about someone walking down my favorite streets in Paris or going to a concert at St Chappelle, things that I especially love and miss.
I enjoy answering questions here on this site, if you can't BE there, at least you can help someone who will be there. But then I sit and wish it was me:)
Call me crazy...but if your a tourist there, how does it make it your place? Imagine how the locals feel when you come into town.

Possessive, no. And I'm only envious when I can't be there myself.

europeangirl, if I saw your secret places I bet I'd like them. :)

angrybill,
work on it.don't be so angry.
