It's short for Danielle...When growing up I hated to be called Danie, it sounded to masculine. So the familty stopped. Later when I met my husband he started to call me Danie, it sounded nice coming from him, so here I am in my late forties answering to Danie from friends and family

daph is the named of our beloved siamese cat who adopted us almost 14 years ago. She is the 6th siamese that we've had [maybe I should really be on a siamese cat forum]. My real name is an old fashioned one often used as Aunt ---- by English comedians or in the comics and I detest it!

Tho I'm old enough to be a grandmother... alas.. I am not. I just picked the moniker one nite when every poster seemed to be 20! But... like Grandmere (see above)I'm beginning to wonder if I'm creating the wrong impression! No blue hair here. My bill at Elizabeth Arden is testimony to that!

Well, mine is kind of obvious. It is what I have always used on Fodors, so I wanted people to know who was responding. Now my password is more interesting, but of course you will just have to guess about that one.

I did not anticipate that this thread was going to become a roll call, but I don't want to suggest that I think it needs to be "boycotted" or anything. I was always Rex, and I was under the impression initially that the registered names would not allow uppercase, nor be case-sensitive.
Best wishes,
Rex

Before registration I sometimes posted as "xxx" and other times as " allx"..and none of my posts were mean ones.
I have also registered here with my hotmail username .

Well, I love Italy and I love nocino. I tried it for the first time in Sorrento this last year, and I brought two bottles home. Delicious cold, in hot drinks and over ice cream, so I took the name. And I am a little nutty, lol.

Thank you all for sharing. I cannot believe the level of response to a misspelled post.
I will share now.
Three years ago I logged on and I was posting under [email protected].
As you can tell, I am a cat person, so when the flame wars became too intense I adopted this persona for stealth.
PS. John re your last line be glad that you were not born a girl.
