So Cal Fodorites

Hi all you good weather guys. I'm planning to host our next GTG on March 24th or 25th, whichever works out best. For all of you that were at the first one, I'll create another e-vite soon. I've noticed that there a number of others in the area and thought that I'd troll for them. I got ropped into teaching both Saturdays and Sundays for the next couple of months but will clear that weekend. Tony and Emily should be here that weekend and hopefully Evira will make it again as well as Holly from Nevada.
Art
Where exactly in So Cal? I'm in Orange County.

patti Suttle Jan 3rd, 2001 12:21 AM

Art-that sounds like fun-I'm new to all of this but I would love to meet everybody! I live in the Mojave Desert-about 2 1/2 hours from LA-but I go to LA all the time (I'm originally from there). Where do you plan on meeting?
Patti

Well poop. When Al came to Chicago for our fodorite jamboree I said I'd try to get to his next one in SoCal. Unfortunately [fortunately?] that's a day after we get back from a week in Paris. The Paris trip is contingent on our Macedonian student/house-guest/son getting a visa from the French Consulate here. If that falls trough I'll be on my way! [So Al -- put me on your list?]

Tony Hughes Jan 3rd, 2001 04:06 AM

Al, how far are you (timewise) from Palm Springs?

Tony Hughes Jan 3rd, 2001 04:08 AM

Al = Art

s.fowler Jan 3rd, 2001 06:07 AM

Oooops. My bad. Must have been too much sangria at Cafe Iberico :)

Art Jan 3rd, 2001 08:16 AM

Should have mentioned for people that missed the last one. I'm in Long Beach, kind of centrally located in the Basin.
We had a turnout of 17 fodorites at the last one.

Art Jan 3rd, 2001 07:06 PM

See if I can catch a few more newbies.

JaneDoe Jan 3rd, 2001 08:24 PM

I live in Buena Park. Can I come to your party? Pretty please??????????

UpUp&Away Jan 4th, 2001 01:41 PM

To The Top!

Thyra Jan 4th, 2001 02:18 PM

I am kind of afraid to say yes since I pulled a typical So Cal Flake last time and had to work all weekend. But, pending our trip to NYC (no dates yet) we will be there.

Jane Doe, if your for real, you need to either post with your real e-mail or contact me using mine.
Rose Jan 6th, 2001 04:02 PM

What is this GTG get together about? I have been trying to find info and saw your post. If this is for people who love to travel and talk about their experiences I would love to come. I am within 15 miles from LAX. Can I get an invite pretty please!! I am leaving on Wednesday for Italy.

Holly Jan 6th, 2001 04:57 PM

Hi Art!

Is that particular weekend set in stone? Are you going to do the e-vite thing?

Judi Jan 6th, 2001 05:30 PM

Art, I will be in California in February but not March. Sorry I will miss your GTG. I had my covered dish all planned; I do some interesting things with Jello. :-)

Sue Jan 6th, 2001 09:42 PM

Let us know when the date is set for sure; we would have to get SW tickets (on special, of course). Gene & I are thinking of coming, but we are both very shy.

Art Jan 7th, 2001 03:26 PM

Judy, i'm curious about what you do with jello???? If you here in Cal in Feb drop me a line and we'll see if we can do lunch.
Bringing to top.
Art Jan 8th, 2001 07:49 PM

Any more of you So Cals out there?
Art Jan 15th, 2001 09:57 PM

I've just sent out an e-vite for Sunday March 25th for the names that I have received. If any more of you So Cal Fodorites havn't seen this and are interested, e-mail me.

Lynn Jun 21st, 2002 11:28 AM

Are you going to have one this year?

lovem Jun 21st, 2002 01:40 PM

Are you, Art? We love these get-togethers.

Nancy Jun 21st, 2002 01:43 PM

Why don't we all meet in a restaurant in the West LA area or Santa Monica? That would take any pressure off of Art.
Any ideas?

Barbara Jun 21st, 2002 02:05 PM

Another GTG would be great. How about somewhere in OC, closer to San Diego?

Sharon Jun 21st, 2002 02:14 PM

How about at Downtown Disney? Plenty of parking and good restaurants and in the middle of So. Cal. It is the part that you don't pay to enter.

Art Jun 21st, 2002 04:45 PM

I'm up for one but can't host it at my house this time.
Diane Jun 21st, 2002 08:58 PM

My apology, Art. I told Art that I would coordinate a get-together as Art needed to pass on it this summer. I've been out of town a lot the passed couple of months. In my opinion, Downtown Disney sounds great. If no one else wants to take charge in coordinating who's attending, I'll volunteer. Guess I may have to include my real email address -- only stopped because of all the junk mail, including the x-rated type.

Sue Jun 21st, 2002 10:06 PM

OK, Diane, go for it! Downtown Disney sounds good, convenient for OC and LA counties. Keep us updated.

Betsy Jun 22nd, 2002 07:03 AM

Diane, a couple of suggestions from No Cal. I helped coordinate our GTG last spring in SF. We started out at a private home for wine and cheese, then moved on to a restaurant for dinner. In retrospect, we wished we had held the whole GTG in someone's home. It's SO much more conducive to good conversation because we were able to move around and mingle.

If you want to release your real e-mail address, include it in the body of your message, not in the Fodor's e-mail box at the top of your message. It's safer that way.

Diane Jun 22nd, 2002 02:25 PM

Okay, folks. Anyone willing to volunteer his/her home? If not, we'll stick to original idea of a restaurant. Email me at [email protected]. Once we figure out the where, we can determine the when.

Betsy Jun 22nd, 2002 03:38 PM

Diane, another quick suggestion. You might want to start a new thread for your new GTG, so folks won't need to scroll down through 30 messages. Maybe So Cal Fodorite GTG--2002. Bowing out now :-)
