How great that so many are interested. Feb. 28 is good for me and I will await the final decision as to where. I have never met anyone from Fodors TravelTalk and have certainly used much of the info offered.

Art: I would be most willing to pick you up. I live in Irvine and would be happy to drive up to Long Beach. You have offered so much good advice on this website. Hopefully, you'll read this and e-mail me back. [email protected]

Nancy, you are a great Fodorite. Thank you for offering to pick Art up.

Jocelyn, I have been no help at all, I'm sorry. I am, however, ready and willing to go wherever you decide on Feb. 28. If I have inspiration, I'll post it.

Friends of mine own Positano in Cardiff, but it would not be my first choice. I am frequently at Il Fornaio Del Mar and we can probably get the new private room which can accomodate up to 20 people. The smaller private can accomodate 12. I would be happy to work everything out with the events coordinator. We can even set up a fixed menu with options and everyone can know the price per person before hand. The restaurant is completely wheel chair accessable so Art would be very comfortable and the location is beautiful. You can check out the menu items at Ilfornaio.com.

Update. For some reason the website does not have the full dinner menu just the desserts. I can get a menu though if this is the place we can all agree on otherwise let's get back to the drawing board. I do think Les Passage is hit or miss and a bit over priced in a very French way!

I have heard very good things about Sbicca in Del Mar. I just rememberd about that place when I re read Treesa's post. It might be a great alternative...Les Passage could be good too if it passed Maitai's taste test! I guess we are open again!

Jocelyn!!

O.K. I have got to apologize. Somehow I missed Jocelyn's post about Les Passage. I am so sorry. I did not realize that it was a go. Jocelyn, thank you for moving this right along. Will I still be welcome eventhough I have written the last four posts???

Calamari, I don't think Le Passage is a go yet. Jocelyn is going to call them today, I think. If they can accommodate us, she'll start a new post.

Calamari--good to hear from you. I like the fact that you have connections at Il Fornaio. What if we end up with more than 20 people though? We've already gotten quite a few "yesses."

Jocelyn:

More than 20 could get tricky unless we reserve a large space on the patio. The main dinning room and the covered & heated terrace overlooking the ocean get very crowded and busy on a Saturday night. The new private room can only accomodate 20 ppl. I am trying to think of another place that could accomodate a large group...that is not a Claim Jumper. Do we have an approx. head count yet? I am in for two.

Roughly I count about 15 so far, including spouses/MILs. We probably should find something that will accomodate at least 30, just in case.

Just an FYI, and I don't know if this is typical or not, but we had 30 people confirmed and then in the last 4-5 days before the GTG a rash of cancellations. We ended up with 18 or 20.

Marilyn --- After reading this and other posts regarding GTGs, I am using my Italian connections to elevate you from angel to sainthood.

I can see how your hardwork made the SF GTG very well organized. It was great an all had a wonderful time.

Thanks.

Why thank you, mmr41! But I don't think my dear, departed Jewish mother would approve of sainthood for me. However, you might use those connections to insure my annual return to Italy for as long as I live.

I must confess the last minute cancellations gave me some anxiety about our menu, but as you know, the food was plentiful and deeeelicious! We shall meet again in the spring!
