Snowdonia vs Scotland Highlands

Hello,
I have 4 days to explore scotland or wales and am wondering whether to visit Snowdonia Nat'l Park or somewhere in the Highlands. I am based in Oxford. I don't have a car, so everything would have to be via public transport. I have a tent and a bike and am up for using either. I love to hike and hope to do some backpacking. Also, any advice about actual routes/cheap hostels is most welcome. Thanks for any advice!

Cheers,
Miles

I spent a week-end in Snowdonia and loved it, only drove through the highlands.

Miles,

Snowdonia is about one-third of the distance to the Highlands. That in itself is a major consideration if you only have four days. Depending on where you go you may find local transport a bit better in Snowdonia.

You'll love Snowdonia, but you'll kick yourself for missing the Highlands.
