Snowboarding in Austria
Just wondering if there are any avid snowboarders lurking about. I have a friend who would like to know where the best place to vacation in Austria (with snowboarding as the main attraction) would be. I know that maybe thorntree might be a better resouce, but I figured I'd ask anyway. Thanks in advance.

We loved the area around Lech, Zurs, St. Anton, and San Cristophe. Only issue is that it's very pricey.
They have a free bus as part of your lift ticket which will take you between all of the areas. Be forewarned, there are very few snowboards in much of Europe (especially this area). |
Snowboarding is picking up in Europe. Austria is trying to attract more snowboarders. Try this link for some starter info:

I would second St. Anton. I'm a skier, not a snowboarder, but there were plenty of boarders in St. Anton when we went last February. The snow was incredible, the views astounding, the Austrians were great, and you CAN find reasonably priced accomodations if you do some research. If your friend is interested in nightlife, then St. Anton is the place to be. We stayed in St. Christophe just up the valley, which is simply a small cluster of hotels and a couple of ski shops - it was perfect for us because the door of our hotel was 20 feet from the lift!

I was in Hopfgarten, Austria in August ( a small little town) and many of the people there said it is a GREAT snowboarding town in the winter and very fairly priced. DEF look into it, its BEAUTIFUL!
