Sniffer dogs and used suitcases

I clean suitcases by wiping them down carefully with anti-bacterial wipes, then with soap and water, being careful not to saturate with water, and then with the wipes again. The wipes should help you get rid of the sticky stuff. If that doesn't work try rubbing alcohol, lighter fluid, or the little cans of "gunk" remover.
Here's a website of someone who has a more organized approach than mine:

I realize we're getting way off the subject of travel here (sorry, but), I wonder if they have a special training school where those stiffer dogs that just don't quite make it can be adopted? We're on the list for a GSD guidedog (they call them "career change" dogs) like that...Do you know?

You can buy used luggage in any flea market in Europe.
But in order to use them, you need to pre-pack adjustable straps.
I know that you can get new big gym bags , for a couple of $$ more. But, in my mind anyways, there is a lot of satisfaction buying one of these used big suckers.

When you get home, you plunk a ton of bank statements, visa statements, income tax statements, stock statements etc into the suitcase. And you lock it up and throw it onto the garage rafters forever.

Most satisfying.

When you walk into the garage, in years to come, you look up and say to yourself....there's that friggen $200 bag from Milan that you got for 2 euros because some street vendor in Milan was drunk out of his mind, and sold it to you, and the dogs were all over you at the airport and the wife was screaming in my ear.
