sncf website troubles
 

Hi all-
I'm trying to reserve tickets for us to get from Angouleme to Paris on June 27th. For some reason, the site keeps telling me that no matter which train I pick (of the 15 or 20 running that day), nothing is available on that particular day. Am I doing something wrong? Is that possible that on a Monday from Angouleme to Paris, every single train is booked? Any suggestions?

I think you may be too far in advance. Try tomorrow, the 27th of April.

I seem to recall a 60 day barrier on tickets on that site.

I hope that is the problem.

I tried to reserve for the 27th and could not complete the transaction. I was however, locked in a loop that just said "To consult the next day's trains, plaese [sic] change your search opposite and enter the new date of the journey."

I have no idea what they are trying to tell me other than, no sale for this date.

I changed the dates to a week earlier and got the procedures to the point of being able to take the next step, which was to pay up.

I stopped at that point.

I was in the same loop Bob! I thought I was slowly going crazy...O.k. I think you may be right. I'll try again tomorrow.

Bob is correct..there is a 60-day limit on most tickets (Elipsos Euronight trenhotel trains excepted).

If you are going to pick the tickets up in France make note of the deadline for pickup AND I advise you to read the rules carefully in the "guide" for travelers.

I was going crazy about PREM tickets from Bordeaux to Paris until I realized that I was trying to get them more than 60 days in advance. But to go to Bordeaux, I was able to get the tickets and print them out, with seat assignments and our names used as a "watermark". I do not have to pick them up.

I am trying to get a "Smilys" fare more than 60 days away, and it looks like I could go on and buyit now. It kind of concerns me since everyone says you can't buy them more than 60 days in advance. Maybe the difference is it is from the Belgian website.

I always thought Prem's tickets can not be bought for the travels within 14 days and beyond 60 days. Well, I just bought/printed now Geneva-Paris return for EUR25.00 each way for 16-17July, that's far more than 60 days ahead so I don't know anymore about this condition at least concerning 60days part (although I'm not complainning that I got this fare.)

Very interesting. Just played around and could go all the way to the 26th of July. After that it would price it but then the web site would not let me go further. Perhaps SNCF International lines allow 3 month out on booking as does the Eurostar and Thalys. Internal French rail is only 2 months.
