SNCF ticket
Planning a train trip from Paris to Cannes in mid-August. Would like to know if train ticket prices increase as one gets closer to departure.
I would like to reserve right before departure but not if it costs a lot more. Thanks for your help, GEsssa |
Hello
Fast trains (TGV) will be more expensive towards date of the trip. Also check on timing : some trains are less expensive than others (like leaving at 10 am instead of 8 am). Regional trains : no impact of the date. Don't know where you are from, but most US users reserve on capitainetrain.com, seems the site is more user friednly than SNCF.com |
You can easily find out the difference on your own.
Goto www.voyages-sncf.com and compare: 1. cost of tickets for a next day trip. 2. cost of tickets for a mid-August trip. |
Yes, use www.capitainetrain.com in preference to voyages-encryption.com. Same everything, but easier to use and no Machiavellian redirects to Rail Europe to have to overcome.
Paris to Cannes starts at €25 and rises to around €130 on the day. Book an upstairs seat on these TGV Duplex double Decker 186mph trains for the best views. |
Sorry, interesting effect of auto correct there!

iDTGV goes from Paris to Cannes. Maybe cheaper, maybe long time.
I can't check without dates and at the moment; can't get the site[iDTGV.com] to search. http://www.sncf.com/en/trains/idtgv I was able to book with my Chase Visa card AFTER I called to notify them of upcoming, online, foreign transaction. A few weeks later, I couldn't book on SNCF, even though I did all the same steps. I used CapitaineTrain finally. |
"longer" not long, travel time.
