SNCF orders 2,000 new trains that are too wide

It is cheaper to widen the platforms at some of the regional stations than to re-configure the trains! About 1,000 platforms down, 1,000 to go:

What do you expect from a company that can even have a working website in 2014?

Why doesn't their website work? I have somehow managed to order TGV tickets from their website both this year and last year...

Actually, the vast majority of platforms in France are perfect for the new trains. The ones that have to be modified are in the older small stations, but people always love this sort of news.

Right, but it's still costing millions of euros to fix those older, smaller station platforms - and if the correct measurements had simply been supplied in the first place, none of this would have been necessary.

Those platforms had to be fixed anyway. This just makes them do it sooner, which probably saves money in the end.

The website works; I've used it fairly often to buy tickets. However, I have to admit that it's a bit user-surly.
