SNCF - I have reservations, do I have seats?
Reserved tickets from Dijon to Strasbourg. Dijon-Besancon "ter", Besancon-Strasbourg "corail".
On the ter , the reservation states "sans reservation", which I realize means without reservation. Am I supposed to do something to reserve a seat, or do we get on the train and find a seat? On the corail leg, the reservation states "places assises" - which I believe means seat assured. Further down on the reservation it says Voiture 17, place 13 and gives a different seat number for my wife. So I am guessing that this is for the corail leg where I have an assured seat. Am I getting this correct, and most importantly, as asked above, do I need to do anything else on the Dijon-Besancon leg where we are "without reservation"? Thanks in advance Steve |
You don't need or have an assigned seat on the ter. Just get on and find seats.
You do have assigned seats on the corail, in car 17. |
Thank you very much StCirq.
I don't mind adventure as a tourist, I just like to avoid it at critical junctures, such as catching trains, planes and the like. :-) |
I hear you, bocacpa. I like to know that I'm actually going to GET to where the adventures begin!

hi StCirq, do you know of any websites that actually has the seating charts for the TGVS? I am taking it to Nice in June, and would like to know where I am sitting as I have a slight problem with where I face on trains...

If this site does not have seating information, I am not sure where one would look. Give this a try:

You don´t know which direction the train on the "seating chart" (even if you find one) is going to. If you have a problem with sitting against the movement direction, ask your neighbour to switch. |
I don't think there is any place you can find SNCF seating charts for TGVs or any other train. They do have some on the Thalys website, actually, which may give you an idea, but nothing guaranteed as different cars can be configured differently.
While you do have a seat on the Corail, as they clearly gave you the numbers, "places assises" does NOT mean seat assured, so don't go around saying that or thinking that's what it means, it just means seats, basically (assises means sitting). |
