Oh dear, just been obliged to go & buy a Double Decker & discovered that perhaps I don't like them much any more :-( Getting too used to good Continental chocolate :-)

janisj Dec 21st, 2005 06:53 AM

I like flake, bounty and a few others. But my true downfall is plain (dark) chocolate digestive biscuits. I know they aren't candy bars but sooooo yummy. I can't buy them often because once the packet is open I have a hard time stopping.

(here in the States they cost over $4.50 so I try to stock up in duty free - others are buying cognac and I'm buying McVitties)

Galaxy!

I thought Cadbury was the best until my English friend had me try Galaxy while we were in the U.K. this year. One of those would taste good right now....

My daughter is really big or YORKIES "It's Not For Girls", but I'm not really sure it's the chocolate.

MissPrism Dec 21st, 2005 07:37 AM

I'm a Cadbury's fruit and nut case

SharonG Dec 21st, 2005 07:41 AM

Thornton's fruit and nut toffee.

henneth Dec 21st, 2005 07:49 AM

A Topic bar (with a hazlenut in every bite!)

TaniaP Dec 21st, 2005 07:49 AM

Flake - ideally stuck in an ice-cream cone (I think it's called a 99 or something...)

cobbie Dec 21st, 2005 08:03 AM

Thornton's toffee. Anyone know anyplace in the states to get it?

Sarah Dec 21st, 2005 08:09 AM

really Londonengland have you had a Green and Darks bar? I use to be a Cadbury Fruit and nut gal, there is no turning back after Green and Darks milk chocolate Almond bar.

Sarah Dec 21st, 2005 08:11 AM

looks like you can order it online through Canada cobbie, that name strikes a bell I want to say Williams and Sonoma but its just a guess. google it for other options

Wispa.

Theres also another really good one whose name I forget. Its a two-tone bar (brown and white swirl) and has a praline truffle filling.

sandykins Dec 21st, 2005 08:55 AM

Cadbury Fruit & Nut! I make sure to eat one upon happy entry into England, and one upon take-off for the somber flight home.

GreenDragon Dec 21st, 2005 11:20 AM

Definitely Cadbury's caramel. However, I gagged when I tried Flake. Guess it's an acquired taste? I also like anything with toffee :P

alya Dec 21st, 2005 11:31 AM

Old Jamaica Rum and Raisin - yum! Although I understand that they don't make it anymore :-(

So, it'll have to be Matchmakers mint or coffee flavour, I'm not picky.

m_kingdom2 Dec 21st, 2005 11:51 AM

Oh dear, all this cheap chocolate.

Also, it's Green and Blacks, not darks...unless you were making some point there?

Fortnum's do good British chocolate, and also Charbonnel, but it's all in the continental style.

But Cadbury's? It's awfully sweet, with no snap, not depth of flavour. Just eat sugar cubes.

Bigal Dec 21st, 2005 12:01 PM

CHRUNCHIE<CRUNCHIE, CHRUNCHIE. YES, I'm shouting.

cobbie Dec 21st, 2005 12:10 PM

RE: Thorntons. Sarah - thanks for the tip. There's a place in Pennsylvania that imports & ships around the U.S. Think I'll treat myself to a Christmas gift...

Zeus Dec 21st, 2005 02:07 PM

nccgrl - You're part right about the Mounds bar, but they use dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate. Bounty is the hybrid cross of a Mounds and Almond Joy. I stock up on them every trip overseas and I don't share them with anybody.
