smaller tour groups
my my mom and I are l planning a trip to the UK in april06, are there any well known tour companies that offer tours in smaller groups of say 20-22 people? we are looking at staying and seeing london and then would like to do day trips to bath, cambridge, oxford, stratford upon avon, stonehenge if we can. I have done research on globus as well as trafalgar and the tours seem to be arounda group size of 40-50 people. i was just curious what else was out there.
thanks for any help |
Maybe the Rick Steves tours? Max 24-28 people. You're a little late to book, but maybe...
http://tours.ricksteves.com/tours06/home.cfm Byt he way, this isn't the best place to get info on tours as most people on here hate them. But you might get lucky! |
thanks for the info...rick steve's site is actually where I found out about smaller tours. are there any other well known tour companies that you can think of that have smaller groups. I will keep looking

Hi,
There is a tour company called Backroads Tours which offers off the beaten track type tours in a smaller bus (about 15 seater, I think). I seem to have lost their brochure but they do go to all the places you want to go just not by motorways and big hotels. I thought it was a little more expensive than the larger groups, probably because the group is smaller but Google will probably find them. Rosemary |
We booked a tour with Tauck, however, be aware they are very pricey. But they keep the tour numbers low. Also, if you checked in to Globus they also have a sister company called Monograms that may be a bit more cozy (however, I'm just guessing on that)
Good Luck |
Greetings from Bath. My names Maddy and I run small group tours to Stonehenge, Avebury Stone Circles, Lacock National Trust village and Castle Combe in the Cotswolds. Max group size is 16. Price £22.50. Please check out www.madmaxtours.co.uk
Good Luck! |
In general, commercial walking tour companies usually have a maximum of around 12 or 15 but usually actually run the tours with much fewer than that. (A group of 20-22 sounds guhe to me!)

Suggest your check out the web site of Overseas Adventure Travel. OAT limits their groups to no more than 16. We've traveled with them several times and found them to be quite good.

ditto for OAT

I have been traveling with Adventures Abroad. www.adventures-abroad.com. Max tour is 20 people. Check them out and see if they will do for you.
