Smaller, romantic hotel in Paris

We will be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary in October and have just decided to go to Paris. It will be our first time there. Can anyone suggest a smaller, romantic hotel? We are also unfamiliar with the different areas of the city and not sure where would be best to stay. We would appreciate any help.

Congrats on your anniversary, what price range for a room and what to you is romantic?

I prefer the 5th or 6th arrondissements and to me something that resembles a small garret is romantic but not to my husband because he is likely to bump his head often ;;) Deborah

Never stayed at Hotel Les Degres de Notre Dame but others from this board have made it 'a home away from home'.
It looks incredibly romantic and the position is awesome.
Go to TripAdvisor and check it out.
If you can't get in, there is another hotel near the Luxembourg Gardens in Rue Madame called The Perryve. We stayed there many years ago and I remember it being very nice.

Just topped my 30th Anniversary in Paris for your review. Hope it helps with your planning. My husband did an amazing job on this trip -- one I will never forget.

Happy Anniversary!

In my view the most romantic hotel in Paris is Pavillon de la Reine in the Marais. One of our favorite hotels anywhere

Another vote for Pavillion de la Reine, which is practically on Places des Vosges. We also love its sister hotel, Relais Christine in the 6th, which is a charming, small hotel totally converted from a former monastery. The location is fantastic- two blocks back from St. Germaine, and within easy walking distance of Notre Dame, the Latin Quarter, the Louvre, and many other sights.

Depending on your budget, I would point you toward the Hotel Esprit St. Germain in the 6th, just down the street from St. Severn and close to the Luxembourg Gardens (http://www.espritsaintgermain.com/flash/index.html) for style, comfort and a romantic get-a-way.

Another suggestions would be the Relais Saint-Germain, also in the 6th (http://www.hotel-paris-relais-saint-germain.com/).

Check Le Sainte Beauve- my wife and I stayed there- small, near Metro, shopping and nice restaurants. Nice, helpful people at desk.

Congratulations. October is still the high season so try and make a decision quickly.

An excellent hotel in the 5th. Also, not expensive. http://hotel-saintjacques.com/

The best part about the Hotel St. Jacques website is the last picture there showing Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn there in the movie 'Charade'. (Keep following "next" on the website and you'll get there.)
