Small towns in Itay- your favorites?
One of my favorite things to do while traveling in Italy is exploring small towns. These are usually towns with a population of less than 4000 and not full of tourists. I am curious as to what some of your favorite towns fitting this description might be. A few of mine are...
Sorano, Tuscany Bettona, Umbria Monte Castello di Vibio, Umbria Montisi, Tuscany Castelmuzio, Tuscany Scheggino, Umbria Castiglione d'Orcia, Tuscany Rocco d'Orcia, Tuscany Roccalbegna, Tuscany Tellaro, Liguria Bagnone, Tuscany |
Loved Tellaro!

I can play that game--I love small towns:
Noto, Sicily Bevagna, Umbria Pitigliano, Tuscany Spello, Umbria Levanto, Liguria Orta San Guilio, Piemonte |
I have a couple, both which I have visited. My grandparents came from Naso, in Sicily, and San Mango D'Acquino, in Calabria. Both towns are gorgeous. Typical small Italian towns with good people and fine restaurants.

Waldo;
WOW! My father was born in Capri Leone. It is my ancestrial home. We have visited it several times It's only about 15 miles from Naso. We have actually been to Naso and ate at La Perla just outside of the town. Naso is a big city compared to Capri leone So my favorites (at least right now).... Capri Leone - Sicily Genzano di Roma - Lazio Pizzo - Calabria Maratea - Basilicata Sant'Agata de' Goti - Campania |
Montecolognola, Umbria
Vallo di Nera, Umbria Castelluccio di Norcia, Umbria |

What a blast! You like Pizzo. That town is about ten miles from my other favorite town, San Mango D'Acquino in Calabria. |
