Near Bologna, Dozza fits your criteria (small, artsy).

i saw dozza on the map.do you know any hotels or B&B there?

I know nothing about hotels or B&BS in Dozza, since I was there on a day trip with a friend who lives in Bologna.

To search in a wider area, google turismo Emilia-Romagna

Here's the general site:

You'll have to work it out in Italian, I'm afraid.

There is a rather large, long thread "Small Towns" (notice the caps) that started in 2002 and has had random additions ever since. I topped it so that you could glance at it.
(Lots of Tuscany in there.)
