small tour group-Krakow
 

My plans for Krakow are moving along. I am really excited. I will be there the first week of April.

I now have a reservation for 3 nights at the Wielopole hotel and am now looking for tours of the Salt Mines and the 2 camps. Also maybe a walking tour in town.

I have looked into a tour with Marta that is recommended here but find it a bit out of my budget since I am travelling alone.

I see there are many tour companies, that have bus tours daily but would like to find something between this and private. Something with perhaps 3-5 other people on a tour.

Does anyone know of a company that would do this.

For the salt mines, you really do not need to book a separate tour. A tour leader was provided as part of the entry fee. The group was not too large and the tour was extensive.
Save the money for the Auschwitz and city tours.

Thanks Yorkshire. That makes sense. Now I just would like to find a good guide for the camps.

I joined a group at Auschwitz after I arrived; I believe you can also engage an individual guide there, at a higher cost. I had traveled out there by mini bus.

Krakow is lovely; have a wonderful time!

Agree - no tour needed for the salt mines. We took a public bus from Krakow (very inexpensive - I"m sure they can tell you bus #, where to get it etc) at your hotel. There were regularly scheduled tour groups, many of which were in English. We just showed up and joined the next one the next English speaking group.
I also agree that Krakow was absolutely beautiful, and four years ago still very inexpensive (not sure if that's still true..)
