Spain and France - pictures and notes of trip

Earlier this year my wife and I made a trip to the north of Spain and France for three and a half weeks.

Pictures and brief notes for those interested are here:

Nice photography, in spite of the rain or lack of sun. How did you know what to see in the French Pyrénées, i.e. which guidebooks did you use?

@Michael,

My wife is the researcher and spends a lot of time at it.

She says her first approach is to use the Michelin Map with its star rating system and symbols for castles, churches etc. She then turns to Google for information (often finding Google Images useful for deciding if somewhere is worth visiting).

Where she can get an email she will contact local TICs or mairies etc.

She found the usual guide books pretty useless with the exception of an old Blue Guide to Midi-Pyrénées and the Michelin guide to Languedoc, Roussillon and Tarn Gorges (although she says you have to dig a bit to get into it as she finds presentation user-unfriendly).

I love driving through the Spanish villages in the Pyrénées. Their stark stoniness always fits the mountain backdrop perfectly.
