Small boutique hotel in London

We will be in London for four nights in January. Does anyone have a suggestion for a boutique hotel with a great location? Thanks for any and all suggestions. Jan

You don't mention the amount you wish to spend.. but when I have $$ to throw around it's the Goring for me.

** haven't yet been to London **
but I'm booked at Number Sixteen in South Kensington for a week in July.
It's a Firmdale Hotel and my rate is £225/night plus VAT
It's a 3-minute walk to the South Kensington Tube, which is served by the Circle, District and Piccadilly lines.
The hotel is < 10 min. walk to V&A Museum and gets really good reviews on Trip Advisor. Gorgeous design, well-appointed rooms, a garden and great service. Reviews consistently include mention that there are lots of good places to eat nearby.

Also, I recently watched "The Layover: London". Anthony Bourdain (who I love!) stayed at a friend's hotel - St. John Hotel - but mentioned that he usually stays at Hazlitt's, which looked wonderful!

Good luck!

We have enjoyed the Pelham Hotel. 15 Cromwell Place, London, Greater London SW7 2LA. Right across the street from the South Kensingon tube station which is on the line from Heathrow and makes for convenient trips elsewhere too as it is on all of the Picadilly and Circle and District tube routes. Right across from V&A and Natural History museums. Nice mix of "traditional" and "modern". Good restaurants to west and south.

If money isn't a problem, The Milestone, across from Kensington Palace, is beautiful. There are a number of so-called boutique hotel in London varying in price from somewhat;) reasonable to very expensive. It'd help to actually know your price range. I've stayed at Number Sixteen and it's nice as is the Goring.

Adore the Goring but also St. James Club & Hotel. Great location and lovely rooms in both hotels.

What is your budget? Several very nice properties have been recommended - but a few are quite expensive.

We love the Kensington House Hotel - lovely small boutique hotel, nice continental breakfast included, very quiet on a side street near High St Kensington and Gloucester Rd Tube

My favorite is The Dukes Hotel. Located in a little corner right behind Green Park.

We stayed at the Lowndes a few years ago. I thought it was lovely. You could just about roll out of bed and into Harrods.

SusieQQ, agree with your Dukes rec. We love their bar and their pricey, but grandly produced martinis!! We can only afford one round tho : )
