Small beach town between Barcelona and Valencia?
 

A group of us are flying into Barcelona and will be traveling down to Valencia but are looking for a nice, small beach town in between Barcelona and Valencia. Nothing touristy...just looking to relax on the beach and rent an apartment.

Beach towns like L'Ametlla do have their share of tourism (otherwise, why would anyone get apartments there and rent them), but are moderate in size.

The (few) possible accomodations in the Ebro delta proper, which expands for appr. 20kms into the Med with endless rice fields, are more or less as lonesome as it can get. Miles and miles of beaches with only a handful of people to share with. Also flamingos and bird spotting areas.

You will also find several rural tourism accomodations, but those are usually a bit to a bit more away from the coast.

Besides the beaches, there is a lot to discover in that area. From Templar castles to pre-historic cave paintings (near El Perolló), the village where Picasso stayed several times and found the motives for his paintings (L'Horta, which is picture perfect pittoresque), many Civil War sites, and beautiful trails in the hinterland mountains. Plus great wines to sample.
