Slovenia/Italy

I will be travelling to Slovenia in Sept. I will be going to Ljubijana and Lake Bled. Does anyone know how long the drive would be and what city in Italy I can go to from either of these two places? I would like the shortest drive possible. I just want to go over the border to Italy for the day for a plate of pasta and some wine. Thanks!

You can get to Trieste in Italy in about one hour and ten minutes from Ljubljana if memory serves me correctly. We almost did that route. Stop at one of the caves on the way to or the way back.

From Ljubljana to Trieste takes one hour to reach city center. There is little over 90 kilometeres, and there is highway all the way. Just don't take highway when you cross the border in Italy. After you pass border (you will recognize it for sure) just go straight in the settlement and don't take right lane to highway (direction Vennezia). After a couple of minutes you will reach Opicina at the end of that town you will already see seaside and Trieste under you. From Bled it is additional 25 minutes.

From Lake Bled you could also go to Tarvisio and take the route that runs along Triglav National Park. The scenery is stunning and it only takes an hour.
