Slovenia/Croatia Itinerary suggestion

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone can help me with the following itinerary. We're staying in Rovinj a little longer than we'd like because we're going to shoot our engagement session on 9/26 at 3pm. I'm also trying to see if there's place that I should omit because ideally we'd like to spend more time in Dubrovnik. Does the itinerary look like it's doable? We will have a car throughout the entire trip and we've also booked our flight. Thank you very very much!

9/20: Fly from LAX to LJU, arrive at 3pm
9/21: After arrival, walk around Ljubljana, stay awake until after dinner. Sleep Ljubljana.
9/22: Morning in Ljubljana, pick up car, drive to Bled (2 hours). Afternoon in Bled. Sleep Bled.
9/23: To Vintgar Gorge (30 minutes), hike (3 hours). Lake Bohinj, Back to Bled (30 minutes). Sleep Bled.
9/24: Drive to Skocjan (2 hours toll road), tour caves (2 hr). Rovinj. Sleep Rovinj.
9/25: Rovinj. Sleep Rovinj (does anyone have suggestions on where to go around Rovinj?).
9/26: Rovinj. Sleep Rovinj.
9/27: Drive to Plitvice (~4-5 hours). Hike part of the park (afternoon). Sleep Plitvice.
9/28: Hike a bit more of the park (start early morning), depart by noon. Drive to Sibenik(3hrs), TROGIR.(1hr) Sleep Trogir
9/29: stay Trogir until noon. Drive to SPLIT(30mins). Drive to Mostar (3 hours), sleep in Mostar
9/30: Mostar. Drive to OREBIC(3hrs) KORCULA(30mins). Sleep in KORCULA
10/1: KORCULA. Drive to BUDVA(5hrs), Sleep in Budva
10/2: BUDVA. Kotor. Drive to DUBROVNIK(2hrs), drop off rental car
10/3: DUBROVNIK
10/4: DUBROVNIK DBV to CDG arrive 7:20pm
10/5: Paris
10/6: Paris
10/7: Paris to LAX leave at 10:30am

Have you checked out the ferry schedule for the korcula part? Are you taking your car or leaving it in the lot in Orebic?

This schedule seems doable. Personally I liked Korcula more than Dubrovnik, but that may just be me. Your time in Dubroknik looks fine.

When we went to Pula after Rovinj, we really enjoyed the collessium. But we didn't much like Pula otherwise. We heard that inland from there are some nice villages to visit.

Christy,

I'm going to leave the car the car in Orebic. We're also thinking of just joining a daytrip to Montenegro on 10/2 so we don't have to drive. What do you think? Thanks again!

For me your trip is too packed. We took a month to do your itinerary. We also had a toddler with us though!

But it's not a crazy schedule quite yet. If you know you like that pace, go ahead and add it. Especially if you don't have to drive.

It might be smart to add in buffers...moments when you can drop a site or stay an extra day somewhere. You won't need reservations for any hotels other than Dubrovnik, and even that you could wing in October.

Doable? Yes. But it sounds to me like you will spend a lot of time in transit and will have very little time at any of these lovely destinations. And I travel at a fairly fast pace!

> does anyone have suggestions on where to go around Rovinj?

Rovinj is a good base for traveling around the hill towns of Istria, such as Motovun, Bale, and Gračišće. Or you can go to Poreć.

> 9/29: stay Trogir until noon. Drive to SPLIT(30mins). Drive to Mostar (3 hours), sleep in Mostar

That won't give you much time to see Split.

> 9/30: Mostar. Drive to OREBIC(3hrs) KORCULA(30mins). Sleep in KORCULA
10/1: KORCULA. Drive to BUDVA(5hrs), Sleep in Budva

Doesn't sound like you'll have much time to see Korcula.

> I'm also trying to see if there's place that I should omit

That depends on your interests.

> we're going to shoot our engagement session

Congratulations and best wishes!

Kja,

Thanks for your reply! We're not interested in any of the museums and we're mostly interested in natural sceneries and anything exotic. For example some of the big draw for us to visit Croatia is Plitvice and DUBROVNIK. I'm also interested in any photo opportunities! Thanks a lot!

Then you'll need to keep in mind that "golden hour" before/after sunset! You might need to rely on your mind's eye to capture what you see....
