Slovenia - August - advice?

We will be spending 10 days in Slovenia at the end of August with our 2 year old. I know it is very hot there at the moment. Is there air-conditioned accommodation? Would it be necessary? (We are accustomed to a max of 25 degrees!) Should we hire a car or use public transport to tour a little of the country? Is it possible to hire a car with air-conditioning? Is it necessary to book accommodation in advance? (This holiday was a last-minute decision! Thanks

Have you tried contacting Slovenia Office of Tourism? Your questions are very basic and they should provide you with good info.

I am in Ljubljana at the moment,it has been very hot. You would be able to find some hotels with air-condition,but it is better to book ahead. As it is the high season, and everyone is looking for air-conditioned room at this heat wave.

Thanks Judy. Any recommendations? We are coming from Ireland where, though it is what we call hot (low 20's), temperatures do not compare with Slovenia. We have decided to hire a car and will get one with a/c. We have to plan ahead with this little boy...

Sorry I could reply earlier,I left Slovenia couple days ago, came to Dubrovnik for the Summer Music Festival.

I stayed at Hotel Lev in Ljubljana, it is near downtown, about 5 minutes walk to lovely old town centre. The hotel is modern but quite clean.

If you enjoy visiting intersting architecture, don't miss the University Library in new town.

I am afraid the temperature had been way above 30C, one day even reached 37C. Be prepared!
