Sligo (Drumcliffe) B&Bs

Many thanks to all the people who have posted messages here, it's made planning of our 20th wedding anniversary trip to Ireland a pleasure!

Last piece of planning - Is anyone familiar with (1) Ben Bulben Farm or (2) Mountain View in Drumcliffe? We've got to book 2 nights near Sligo, and I've gotten it narrowed down to these 2 B&Bs. Thanks for any help!

Someone told me if I posted this at night, it would get lost in the shuffle, I don't know if that's correct or not...

Excuse my rudeness, I'm taking one more shot at seeing if I get any advice on this...thanks

It doesn't seem rude to me at all...we know that these forums contain a wealth of experience and knowledge, and it's natural to want to tap into that. I was reassured by your message letting me know there were others with the same questions when I posted on this topic awhile back and hope that some of what was posted there was of help to you. You're going a couple of months ahead of us, so I'm counting on you to let us know how your trip went (especially the Sligo part!). Relatives recommended the Sligo Park Hotel, but it's a bit pricey for us and we prefer B&Bs anyway. Good luck!

kevmag,

I posted on your other post about Sligo B&Bs telling you that I had posted a message on the other Sligo thread. I guess you missed it. This is what I posted

.......................................

I found a recommendation for Iorras B&B in Sligo at this website with a click through link: http://www.irelandyes.com/lodgings.html As I understand it the places on this page are personally recommended by the website owner. There are photos of Sligo on another page of the website so I think she must have been there before. You can always ask on her forum.

Hope that helps.

It's a bit further out than Drumcliff but in t he same direction, but Ardtarmon house is a v welcoming 'big house', with its own grounds and a walk down to the shore. It has it's own website if you google it as I can't remember the address.

Honestly we found no need to have a reservation in advance for B&B's in Ireland or Scotland. It was very east to decide at about 4 p.m. that we were ready to stay for the night in the place we were and begin to look for a B&B. Generally on the first stop but always with only one or two stops we had a room in a lovely establishment.

It was just so much easier than trying to find where we were supposed to be or having to go farther then we wanted or stay too long in a place when we were ready to move on.....it's just a very easy thing to do because there are so many B&B's available.

I never make reservations in advance. It's to restricting.

Hello, Irish Eyes! Just brainstormed a June return to Ireland this afternoon! Your heads up on Iorras B & B near Sligo was great! Thanks!!

IrishEyes Apr 23rd, 2006 07:18 PM

robtamos, I hope that works out for you. Tell us about Iorras when you get back and if you like it or not.

Irish Eyes, E mailed Iorras, but received no response. Did get a nice response from Martha Davey @ Carbury House. I'm in for the 1st week-end in June. I'll.....keep ya posted!
Cheers!

robtamos, we stayed at Carbury House a couple of years ago. The rooms were huge and comfortable, easy to find on the main road. I think you'll like it.
