Sligo, Derry or Dungiven??

Trying to pick one of these cities for sleeping in... I plan on spending some time in each but wonder which one for lodging and food... My ancestors came from Dungiven but not a lot of info that I have found on the town.. Help! Thanks

It depends what you want to do - Dungiven is a small town, Derry is a small city, Sligo is a small city.

Sligo and Derry are very different.

Food is good in Sligo. You could alos stay somewhere in Donegal - it really depends what your tastes are.

If you give more details perhaps I can help.

I enjoy photography so anything historic, or picturesque, mainly I am an outdoor photographer. My husband and I enjoy music, so if one seems to have more traditional pubs or if one seems to have the better selection of food.

Sligo (just outside the city) has some very interesting areas for a photographer. The area around Ben Bulbin is one of my favourites.

Also, near Derry there are some nice old sea side towns around the Inishowen peninsula - like Moville and Greencastle. Which are not particularly touristic and very nice for a photographer - but these can be done on day trips.

Sligo has quite a few traditional pubs and good restaurants.

Depending on how long you are staying, you could stay around Sligo for a few days and then outside Derry for a few days.

Actually Sligo is a town - not a city!
