Has anyone booked an apartment through this company? Are they reliable?

conlet: your question is interesting to me, because although I have my Rome accomodations set for May, I was thinking of going cheaper.

SleepinItaly.com has some inexpensive apartments that sound good, but slowtrav.com has very mixed reviews for the different apartments. Made me nervous.

There is a thread right now with a sleepinitaly.com stay. It's the one about "nights in Rome and Limoncello"

do a search with their name - you are sure to come up with positive posts. I used them last July for an apartment in Rome and was pleased.

Tuscan - I was happy with them. I did not "love" my apartment (which got a great review on slowtravel) - but that was not due to Sleep in Italy (that I did not like it).

I have used SIL twice for stays in Rome, and I would not hesitate to use them again.

Very pleased. Got a great apartment in a great location. Only glitch was there was no one to take the key when we left so we had to leave in the mail slot. Otherwise an excellent experience and I'd use them again.

I rented an apartment through them three years ago with no problems.

We used Sleep in Italy for 2 apt. rentals this past December. They were very good, and I probably drove them half-crazy over the course of 6 months. They were professional, polite and the apts. were almost exactly as described. I would definately use them again.

Bad experience here with them. Switched apartments 1 week before I was to leave hom and ended up in a dump.

Several people have suggested that "things happen" -- emergencies, etc., which they do and are sometimes unavoidable. But, "overbooking" was the reason given in my case, understandable too, except when it's YOU! :)

I'm the one doing the Limoncello report. I've used them four times with no problems. As far as leaving the key, I have always been told to leave the key in the apartment on a table or counter.

I just got back less than a week ago. I had booked the apartment last August or September. In January, they emailed me and asked if I would consider a different apartment because they had someone who wanted the one I had booked for three months. I can understand them wanting to be able to take that rental. However, they made it clear that I didn't have to give it up if I didn't want to. I worked with them and found another that I was satisfied with and did the switch. As it turned out, a couple of weeks later they emailed me again and said the longer-term rental was not going to happen, so I did get back the original one I had reserved. Very good communication throughout.
