Sleeping free in Prague-Which is nicer, Marriott or Renaissance?
 

We are lucky to have enough Marriott points to stay a week for free in either the Marriott or Renaissance hotels in Prague next spring. Since they are right next to each other location is not an issue. The Marriott is slightly more points, it is a bit newer I believe. Has anyone seen both places, and would you recommend one over the other? Do either of them have ANY charm?

I haven't stayed in either but since no one's answered, I'll just say that I think they are both about the same, but you probably knew that. They are about the same size and age. I think I've read some good comments from someone who stayed at the Renaissance and that's probably what I'd choose. I've seen photos of their rooms, at least, and they look pretty nice, with some style. I also thought the Renaissance brand was supposed to be more stylish, personal, "european-ish" than the plain Marriott brand but since I don't do anything with them much, I might be remembering wrong. I suppose you could just pick one that has the particular facilities you want, if they differ (I know one has a fitness center, although I can't imagine needing one on vacation). <BR><BR>That's a convenient location and they should be nice, comfortable hotels. My advice is be SURE to go to the Cafe Imperial which is only about a block away on Na Porici--it is wonderful.

Thanks Christina:<BR><BR>I thought it strange that there would be two similar properties owned by the same chain so close to each other. I always thought that the Renaissance was a bit nicer too, although in this case it is a few years older. I was leaning toward the Renaissance. I do not need a fitness center on vacation, LOL - I have legs like rocks after our trips. We walk everywhere, much to my husbands dismay. Thanks for your tip on the Cafe Imperial!

How about niether? Try out the hostel on top of the hill overlooking Prague Castle. Its a real dump but you will have lots more fun and meet some real people. You can use the points somewhere in the US.

Lynn,<BR><BR>We just got back from Prague two days ago and we stayed at the Renaissance hotel. <BR><BR>The Marriott and Renaissance are across from one another. The location is good as it is only a five minute walk into Old Town.<BR><BR>As far as charm, I can only speak for the Renaissance...it does not have that European charm, it is like any other typical Marriott chain the United States. <BR><BR>But it is a nice hotel (it is rated a five star hotel), large rooms, professional staff and all the necessary amenities you will need.<BR><BR>We also were fortunate enough to have accumulated enough points to stay at the Renaissance for a week. <BR><BR>Prague is a breathtaking, we had a fantastic time....enjoy!!!!!

Good tip on the Cafe Imperial. If you want to try Czech food, wander into the restaurant opposite on the corner.
